Inter-Poly Dikir Barat Competition

Republic Polytechnic's own Dikir Barat Team recently joined an inter-poly competition, Piala Suara Serempun held at Potong Pasir Community Centre July2012 organized by Gabungan (Dikir Barat Federation of Singapore). There were two seperate teams - Wira for the guys and Endang for the girls. With close guidance from Mr Hairil Annuar, both team performed their best and sang in unison with gusto. 

For the overall results, Endang won 9th placing while Wira clinched 4th position. Wira's impressive performance caught the eyes of the judges and Wira was also nominated for the top 3 Best Awok-Awok.If you missed their performance, do visit RPMCG's Facebook account to catch Wira's and Endang's youthful performance. DHARMA's DOUBLE CELEBRATION

On the 7th of July, DHARMA sent out dancers from Year Ones and Twos to perform at Muara Dance Festival 2012. A total of 18 groups, including primary schools, secondary schools and institutions were given this opportunity to perform at this extravagant event. The show was held at Esplanade Outdoor theatre, from 3pm onwards. Being the last item on stage, we were the closing performance of the show. DHARMA performed an item called ‘Tiga Serangkai’, which consists of Asli, Inang and Joget moves. This was also the item that we brought to Solo Indonesia during our School Overseas Trip.



A week after that, DHARMA sent in 12 girls to compete in 2012 Fiestari 10th Anniversar held on 14th July 2012 at Cheng San CC. They prepared an item that portrays the gracefulness and elegance of a woman.




Choreographed by Cikgu Fathurrahman bin Said, this dance, also known as “Sinarai Gemalai” (means Rays of Gracefulness), flaunts the strength, rigidity, perseverance, sacrifice, devotion of a woman with an essence of suppleness. For the results, we’re pleased to announce that DHARMA managed to come in as First Runner Up! Alongside the rest of the winners are East Spring Secondary who won Second Runner Up and NYP as the champion.

The Final Debate

Stop what you are doing and come down to Mediacorp to catch the final showdown between Madrasah Al-Maarif Al-Islamiah and Victoria Junior College for the final of Bahas 2012!


This debate will definitely put you on the edge of your seats and triggering your thoughts with its exciting topic (Rakyat Singapura harus lebih bersyukur dengan keadaan hidup di negara ini).

SLA FIESTA 2012

Bonded; Four IGs, One MCG

On 12th April 2012, Republic Polytechnic has the fun-filled Student Life Activities (SLA) Fiesta. It was bursting with enthusiasm as we, seniors gave it our utmost effort in attracting the freshies to join our respective Interest Group (IG). And yes, the Malay Cultural Group(MCG) didn't miss out on all the fun as well! Tarian, Dikir Barat, Silat and Pentas Karyawan are the four IGs that belonged to MCG.

We were all geared up as we take pride in representing our booth. All of us gave our all such as explaining to the freshies what our IG is all about, how are the trainings like, the IG member and commitee. For my two cents worth, the endless elaborations were all not put to vain. We managed to recruit a handful of freshies and we would like to welcome them on board!

Despite having our four different booths not located adjacent to each other, it didn't dampen our spirits to support one another. All of us have invigorated - 'Four IGs, One MCG'. We helped each other to promote not only our booth, but the other three as well. It is evident that with constant support from each and everyone of us, we have united and bonded as one big happy family. Cliche, but its fact.
